Introducing our special
Festival Guests,
AETERNA MUSIC ENSEMBLE

Music has almost certainly been a mainstay of Christmas celebrations since the angels announced the birth of Jesus to the shepherds two millennia ago. So we decided to fill St Mary's Church, where the festival Art Exhibition, Wreath Workshops and Café St Mary are located, with the most exquisite music possible.

Aeterna is an innovative group of professional musicians, whose members are all Christians. They use improvisation to record and create new, exciting and spontaneous pieces of music. Aeterna was founded by composer, percussionist and pianist, Clive Malabar.

Much of Aeterna's original music was recorded at home during the Covid 19 lockdowns. The compositions developed as each player added their instrument in turn. They hope you are encouraged and inspired as you watch the music videos on our YouTube channel or hear them live.

As Aeterna creates new compositions, they hope that you are able to explore the mystery of faith and hope through their music.

SOUND PROFILES

During the morning of the "This is Christmas" Festival on 29 November, Aeterna will be offering to create a very personal Sound Profile for a few guests.

Have you ever had your portrait painted? A visual artist will seek to create an image of the person who sits before them. It takes a really gifted and skilled artist to capture a true likeness. Aeterna believes that it’s possible to paint pictures with music as well as the brush or pen. With their instruments and voices they use improvised music as a means of creating a ‘sound portrait’ of the people they play for.

This really can be a rich and deeply-meaningful experience that will remain in the memory for years to come. If you are interested in sitting in the "cool seat" for 15 minutes, listening as the musicians dig deep within themselves to create music unique to you, please email info@rootandbranchchange.org, and we will try our best to give you a time slot.

Your Sound Profile is free of charge.
